LOCHARRON Lochcarron calls their 16 oz heavy weight tartan "Strome," named for Strome Castle on the shores of Loch Carron in North West Scotland, where the woolen mill originally wove their tartan. They divide their Strome tartans into two different ranges, based on demand. Cloth for each range is of the same make and quality, woven 54" wide with a tuck selvage. STANDARD RANGE:The more popular tartans are woven in greater quantity, making them slightly less expensive per yard. The look, quality, and feel of the cloth is the exact same as Lochcarron's Rare Select range. Indeed, it is the same cloth, but economics of scale make this range more affordable. Prices begin at $355 for kilts from this cloth. CLICK TO ORDER
RARE SELECT RANGE:The same cloth as their standard Strome tartans, but this range includes a wider selection of less-in-demand tartans. As they are not woven in the same quantity, this cloth is a bit more expensive per yard. Prices begin at $395 for kilts from this cloth. CLICK TO ORDER
HOUSE OF EDGAR HEAVYWEIGHT RANGE:A selection of tartans woven in 16 oz weight worsted wool. This fabric is woven with a traditional kilting selvage, and is also woven single width, so there will be no seam in your kilt. Prices begin at $375 for kilts in this cloth. CLICK TO ORDER
NEVIS RANGE:A small range of popular tartans woven double width, with a tuck selvage. This cloth is also treated to be stain resistant. Prices begin at $335 for kilts in this cloth. CLICK TO ORDER
